Floor Sanding

Dust-controlled sanding that strips away years of wear to reveal clean, fresh timber.

Overview

Floor sanding is the heart of what we do – we have been sanding floors locally since 1999 and have completed well over 1,000 jobs. Using continuous-belt machines (no barrel marks), edge sanders and multi-disc finishers connected to professional extraction, we take floors back to clean, flat timber ready for the finish of your choice. Every floor is different: a soft Victorian pine board needs a very different approach to a dense oak strip or a herringbone parquet, and we tailor the work to suit your floor and your budget.

  • Removes scratches, stains, wear lanes and failing old finishes
  • Continuous-belt sanders – no barrel or chatter marks
  • Around 98–99% dust-free with Bona and Lägler extraction
  • Carried out personally by an experienced, Lägler-certified sander
  • Prepares the floor perfectly for lacquer, oil, stain or whitewash

FAQs

Floor Sanding questions

Is floor sanding really dust-free?

We won't pretend it's 100% – nobody's is. Our Bona and Lägler machines run with high-capacity extraction, and we'd honestly put it at around 98–99% dust-free. You may find a little surface dust settle over the next few days, but it's very minimal, and we clean down thoroughly before we leave.

Who will actually do the work?

Your floor is sanded by Darren personally – the business is built on reputation, so it matters that every job is done right. On the rare occasion another sander is needed, they are hand-picked by Darren and work to exactly the same standard.

Should I paint my skirting boards before or after?

After, ideally. Sanding right up to the edges can mark freshly painted skirting, so it's best to paint last – and we can offer skirting painting as part of the job if you'd like.

How long does it take?

A typical room is sanded and finished in two to three days including drying time between coats. Larger areas, repairs, gap filling and staining add time – we'll give you a clear timescale with your quote.
