Parquet Restoration

Specialist sanding for woodblock parquet – flattened, refreshed and finished to show off the pattern.

Overview

Woodblock parquet is common in 1920s–1960s homes across Surrey and South London, and it's often hiding under carpet or an old orange finish. Because the blocks run in different directions, parquet needs careful planning: sanding across the pattern to flatten it, then fine sanding to remove the cross-grain scratches that poor sanding leaves behind. Loose blocks can be re-fixed before sanding begins.

  • Pattern-sensitive sanding
  • Loose blocks re-fixed
  • Old orange finishes removed
  • Fine sanding for a scratch-free surface
  • Lacquer or oil to show off the pattern
