Varnishing & Lacquering

Hard-wearing lacquers in matt, satin or gloss – from a natural look to a deep shine.

Overview

Lacquer (often still called varnish) forms a tough, protective layer over the timber. We use recognised professional products because they provide a far better, longer-lasting finish than cheaper alternatives. Choose an extra-matt finish for a natural, just-sanded look, satin for a soft sheen, or gloss for a classic, high-shine finish like our work at The Bohemians in Deptford.

  • Excellent protection for busy homes and venues
  • Matt, satin and gloss options
  • Recognised professional products only
  • Low-odour water-based systems available
  • Easy to clean and maintain

FAQs

Varnishing & Lacquering questions

How soon can I walk on the floor?

Usually light foot traffic after a few hours, furniture back after about 48 hours and rugs after one to two weeks while the finish fully cures.

Which sheen hides scratches best?

Matt and satin hide everyday marks far better than gloss, which is why they're the most popular choices for family homes.
