The brief
A narrow terrace staircase in Wimbledon, freshly uncovered after the carpet came up – with paint, stain, old gripper rods and staples left on every tread.
Before & after

Work completed
Gripper rods, staples and nails removed, every tread and nosing sanded with detail and edge sanders, and a clear finish applied.
Challenges overcome
Stairs can't be belt sanded – each tread, nosing and edge against the spindles and wall needs detail sanding with compact machines like the Bona Mini Edge and by hand.
Finish & equipment
Finish applied: Clear, hard-wearing finish for stairs
Equipment & products: Bona Mini Edge and hand sanding.
