How Long Does Floor Sanding Take?

Realistic timescales for sanding and finishing a wooden floor.

Typical timings

A single room usually takes two to three days including drying time. A full ground floor may take four to six days depending on repairs and the finish.

What affects the timeline

Repairs, gap filling, staining, the number of coats and drying times all play a part. Slivers take longer than resin filler but give a better result on pine.

When can I use the room?

Light foot traffic is usually possible after a few hours, furniture after about 48 hours and rugs after one to two weeks.
