The Truth About 'Dust-Free' Sanding

Why we say 98–99% dust-free rather than 100% – and what modern extraction really means for your home.

No one is 100% dust-free

Many companies claim to be 'dust free', but honestly that isn't true. Modern machines have a very high dust extraction capacity – we'd put it at around 98–99% – but you may still find a little surface dust at the end of the job.

How extraction works

Our belt and edge sanders connect to Bona's DCS dust containment, which uses two-stage cyclonic separation to pull dust away at source and empty it into sealed bags.

What to expect afterwards

We make every effort to clean all the dust before finishing the job. Once we've left, a little can still settle over the next few days, but it's very minimal.

Why it matters for the finish

Less airborne dust means fewer particles settling in wet lacquer or oil, which gives a smoother, cleaner final finish.
