Preparation matters
Pine boards often have protruding nails, staples and old carpet grippers. Every fixing must be removed or punched below the surface before sanding to protect the abrasives and machines.
Dealing with resin
Resin in pine clogs abrasives quickly, so we change paper frequently to keep it cutting cleanly rather than burnishing the surface.
Avoiding the orange look
Traditional solvent varnishes yellow pine over time. Modern non-yellowing finishes and whitewash keep pine pale and fresh.
